Why hello there! The past few months Alyssa, Kennedie and myself have had a hectic, but enjoyable time! Since the last time we checked in, we have done numerous events, including the CIBC Run for the Cure, the Chamber Business Excellence Awards and the Hope for hospice Masquerade Ball. Also, the Kamloops Royalty as well as our British Columbia Ambassador Acacia Schmietenknop, have taken on the duty of selling 50/50 tickets at every home Storm Game!
The CIBC Run for the Cure was a fantastic event. We got to mingle with the supporters, show our own support, and even sing O’ Canada before the runners started the walk/run. Boy, that was sure fun! While the people were out running, Acacia, Alyssa, Kennedie and myself got to sign the banner and take a picture in the fire truck. Once the runners/walkers were starting to return, we cheered as they crossed the finish line. We had an amazing time!
On October 13th, we were honoured to be a part of the big night for businesses, the Chamber Business Excellence Awards. Here, all four of us greeted guests and got them seated, then stood on stage while the presentations were taking place. What a successful night!
An event that was for such a great cause, and the biggest impact on myself, was the Hope for Hospice Masquerade Ball. This event was spectacular, and the proceeds got to the Margorie Willoughby Snowden Hospice right here in Kamloops. While Alyssa and Kennedie assisted the photobooth, Acacia and myself worked the coat check, a very wonderful event that we were excited to be a part of!
And finally, when you are watching our very own Storm players play on home ice, don’t forget to purchase your 50/50 tickets, sold to you by the four of us ourselves, Go Storm Go!!
As the leaves fall off the trees, and the snow files in the air, we are getting ready for our busy season, winter! Soon, Alyssa, Kennedie and myself will be visiting the high schools and welcoming candidates for 2013/2014. We are also looking forward to all the holiday events, parades and breakfasts that we get to be a part of!
As our year almost reaches its halfway mark, we are sad it is flying by, but we also are ready for new experiences, memories and laughs.
Yours Truly,
~Mikayla Russell, Kamloops Princess 2012

Summer Lovin'
With Summer Lovin' Comes A New Beginning
Hello Kamloops! Thank
you for welcoming us in this summer as the new Kamloops royalty. We have Alyssa
Redmile as Miss Kamloops and Mikayla Russell and myself, Kennedie Maidment as
Kamloops Princesses. Mikayla, Alyssa, and I
are more than honoured to be representing our beautiful city for this
upcoming year. We have already have the pleasure of attending 6 out of town
pageants in communities including Quesnel, Lytton, and Oliver where we watched
as their new royalty were crowned. We have also attended numerous in town
events which include a Shoppers Gala, and Hot Nite in the City, to kick off our
reign.
However, we could not be doing this alone. We have been
quickly welcomed and become a part of the sparklehead, weekend family of
royalty teams from across the province. Also, for the first month we were able
to reign with our British Columbia Ambassador, Paris, who showed us the ropes
when it comes to the pageant lifestyle. Then, at this year's BC pageant, in
August, Kamloops was once again lucky enough to proudly have Acacia
representing our city as a newly crowned Provincial Ambassador along with
Mariah of Castlegar, and Carley of Trail. We look forward to spending our year
with Acacia, in our team of 4.
I can speak for all of our team when I say this next part.
A huge thank you is to go out to everyone associated with the Miss Kamloops
Ambassador Program. The many volunteer hours all of the facilitators, and
committee members put into this program is going to make this an absolutely
incredible year. As well as a thank you to our sponsors for allowing us to make
our journey through this program.
I look forward to spending a great year representing
Kamloops!

May Madness!
Hello again ! Wow, what a busy and extremely rewarding few months we have just completed. Kimberly, Karly, Paris and I have been very active in the community, especially with the nice weather rolling in. We have been able to participate in Boogie the Bridge and the MS walk this month, along with our beautiful candidates! Speaking of candidates! They are doing such a good job and we love to watch them grow as much as they have since January. They have completed the fashion show as well as speech night in April, both in which they did exceptionally well. Next up for them is talent on May 31st, good luck girls !
As for us Royalty, we have been getting back into the pageant swing, and have been able to attend the Chase and Summerland pageant over the past two weekends. We had enormous amounts of fun, to say the least, but are always sad to say goodbye to fellow ambassadors. Recently we also all participated in the local Pitstop, an event dedicated to cooking and feeding the less fortunate. It was a new experience for all of us, and while it was definitely eye opening, it was also very rewarding, and we were honoured to be a part of something so special.
Well we only have a short time left, almost two months exactly, and we plan to live every moment to it's fullest. We have had such an amazing ten months, and we know the next two will have no troubles living up to and exceeding them.

Our Reign Continues...
Since the Christmas season has come to an end, we have entered into a new year, which means a new season of busyness for us Ambassadors. We are proud to say we have a total of 16 new candidates, who have proven to be very assertive and enthusiastic about the program. With the coming of the new candidates, Karly, Emily and I have come to realize all the more what a gem this program has been for us, and how much sooner it will come to an end. Even though we are saddened by this thought, it brings comfort to remember that 5 months still remain for us to attend events and functions and continue to have the privilege of representing our beautiful city of Kamloops.
In January we were able to participate in Wendy’s Dreamlift Day! We had a great time learning how to function in the appropriately named business of “fast” food. Karly and I poured beverages for the patient customers, and Paris and Emily helped on the drive thru, and we all got to pour a few frosties on the way. Altogether we had a great time, supporting a great cause.
Another event we attended was Literacy Day. This is a day were children of all ages can come out and enjoy doing crafts, playing with various experiments displayed by the Big Little Science Center, listening to tunes played by the Oldtime Fiddlers, face painting, reading books, and many other fun activities. It is all in support of Literacy for children. Though it may be hard to believe, one in four children in Kamloops cannot read, and for this reason we were proud to contribute to make that fact a part of the past.
I personally had a particularly emotional time at the Alzheimer’s Walk for Memories, where we held the ribbon that was cut to begin the walk. It was an amazing turn out, of young and old participants, which was impacting to everyone involved.
Each of these events represent life changing causes, and Karly, Emily and I were proud to be a part of them. We have enjoyed ourselves immensely and we look forward to our future events!
Best Wishes,
Kamloops Princess Kimberly Lebel
