We had a wonderful fall and now we're busy as ever with our winter events! Over the past few months we've gotten to meet many of our communities dignitaries and other leaders. Kim, Emily and I have represented Kamloops in Oliver, Peachland and Barriere and every trip brought new memories and new friends. Some of the events we've gone to recently include: Toys For Kids, Basics for Babies, the Kamloops Santa Claus Parade, the United Way Touchdown and the MS Society's Open House! We extend our gratitude to all of the organizers of the events for allowing us to take part!
We'd also like to congratulate former Miss Kamloops, Acacia Schmietenknop on her run for School Board Trustee in this years municipal election. Although she did not get elected in, we are so proud of her and know that this is just the beginning for her - Way to go Acacia!
With Christmas events, parties and opportunities, we've also started our school visits for 2012 candidates! We've gone to every high school in the district and the feedback is unbelievable! I'm looking forward to meeting each of the prospective candidates and can't wait for their candidacy to begin! For those interested, candidate call is January 2nd @ 6:30 pm @ the Heritage House and January 4th @ 6:30 pm @ the Hal Rogers Hall. Please contact Teresa or Acacia at misskamloops@gmail.com for more information.
Happy Holidays from Emily, Kim and I! We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday season filled with fun, laughter and family.
- Seasons Greetings!

Congratulations Paris!
It begins again! Our Kamloops Royalty team was thrilled to congratulate Kamloops own Paris Sanesh on placing this past weekend in the British Columbia Ambassador Pageant. The weekend was a relaxing one for Karly, Emily, and I, as we watched in admiration of our fellow sparkle head and friend, Paris. All her hard work paid off, and the four of us are absolutely thrilled to be able to share much of the following year together attending pageants and community events together.
Speaking of community events, the Kamloops Royalty was very happy to be present this past week at Hot Night in the City, the local car show. We toured around to browse and look at all the impressive chrome and wide selection of spotless vehicles. It was a privilege to hand out the awards given in a broad variety of unique categories, as many of the well deserved winners claimed their plaque or trophy and posed for a picture with yours truly. Also while we were downtown for the event, we were able to volunteer some time to water the public produce project garden!
One of the more interesting events we were able to attend was the Mine Day in Logan Lake at Highland Valley Copper. We toured all the pits, and took some great photos! If I don’t mind saying so myself, we seemed to do quite a fantastic job selling 50/50 tickets, and painting some very good looking faces.
I believe we were all able to experience Kamloops this past week at the pinnacle of its city pride as we hosted the Western Canada Summer Games! The opening and closing ceremonies were only a small result of all the hard work and dedication put into the Games, which were 4 years in the making. Karly, Emily, and I were able to attend men’s volleyball game, and basketball game, which only boosted our city pride as we watched our home province teams go for gold!
All in all, it has been a very eventful, and enjoyable past couple weeks, and things seem to only be getting better. We have been having the time of our lives, and cannot wait to continue to share all our wonderful experiences!
Best wishes,
Kamloops Princess, Kimberly Lebel

A New Beginning!
Here we go ! We have just been welcomed in as the new Kamloops Royalty for the 2011/2012 year. Karly Flannigan and Kimberly Lebel as the Kamloops princess', and myself, Emily Palladino, as the new Miss Kamloops. We would just like to give a quick thank you to everyone who has got us to this point, to all the volunteers who put their time into this program, you are so very appreciated.
We are very excited for what this year will bring to us, and for what we will bring to our city. We have already traveled to 3 different communities for their pageants. Congratulations to the new Royalty of Quesnel, Lytton and White Rock. We are very excited to start doing some more things within our community and of course to travel more through out August to other cities within our beautiful province of British Columbia.
Also ! Good luck to our recently retired Miss Kamloops, Paris Sanesh, who has been running in the BC Ambassador Program, as it comes to an end over the August 13th weekend at the pageant in Merrit. We know you will do us proud.
Best,
Miss Kamloops, Emily Palladino.

June!
June was exciting, busy and full of new experiences for us! We started the month with our last Chamber of Commerce social. We would like to say a huge thank you to the team at the Chamber for always welcoming us to their events! We had the opportunity to meet many of the movers and shakers here in Kamloops!
We had so much fun traveling to 3 different communities this month to promote our city and support other ambassador programs. Congratulations to the new royalty in Cranbrook, The Arrow Lakes and Osoyoos!
Our candidates have also been working very hard throughout June. They joined Paris, Jenelle and I at the Juvenile Diabetes Walk. It was a very enjoyable day for us all and we were so happy to support such an incredible cause! They also hosted their own walkathon and raised over two thousand dollars. Way to go ladies!
Sadly as our year is coming to an end, we found ourselves recording our farewell speeches with Cheryl Blackwell. They will be played at our pageant on July 9th at Sagebrush Theatre where the new 2011 royalty will be crowned. Hope to see you all there!

The wonderful month of May!
May was a fantastic month for everyone in the beautiful city of Kamloops! We started our duties right away this month, on May 1st we had Boogie the Bridge at 8 am! All our candidates were there and we had a lot of fun cheering on the walkers and runners, and later had a nice picnic lunch until the candidates had to run to their first dance class, in preparation for their opening number on pageant night, July 9th. Later that day we attended the Shoppers “Royal” Gala, and had a fun time visiting with the other guests, getting manicures, henna, and munching on their yummy snacks!
Sadly I was not able to attend our next event, the Trail Ambassador Program pageant! However, Casey and Paris had a wonderful time. and really enjoyed the beauty of Trail! There was a parade, a ball and of course the coronation of the new Trail royalty.
On May 11th we attended McDonalds “McHappy Day”. Casey unfortunately could not attend this event but Paris and I had a great time working the drive thru, collecting donations for the Ronald McDonalds House and serving drinks.
The next night was our Candidates final publically judged event before pageant: Entertainment night! All the girls did such an amazing job and showed a wide variety of talents from horse grooming and wrestling to baking and science shows with everything in between! I would also like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Richard Woods from B100 for being our Master of Ceremony for this fantastic event!
Next, on May 14th Paris and I attended the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation fundraiser for the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital here in Kamloops. We had a great time showing people to their seats and admiring all the beautiful gowns and hair do’s. We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Mark Madryga for being the master of ceremony for this wonderful fundraiser.
May 15th was the MS Walk, regrettably neither Paris nor Casey could make it to this event but I had a wonderful time visiting with all the candidates and running a rest stop with two of our lovely candidates, I couldn’t have done it alone so I thank them or all their help!
xoxo

Our famous fashion show started off our April great! The candidates did very well strutting their stuff and having fun with the judges! The royalty loved to see them grow and partake in their own journey well ours is sadly starting to come to an end.
We also were invited to attended the City of Kamloops distinguished Community Service Awards where we mingled with Mayor Milobar and his lovely wife along with many other guests.
In April we had the privilege of traveling to the island to the Naniamo and Ladysmith Pageants! It was definitely a great trip with many good times and beautiful scenery. Unfortunately this might be the last pageant we attend all together because of busy times coming up. So we made it the best we could by having too many laughs and taking too many pictures!
The last publicly judged event for the candidates was also held in April. The candidates presented their 3-5 minute prepared speech and in doing so the did very well in overcoming their nerves and presented their speeches with confidence. I also presented my speech that I will be using for the British Columbia Ambassador Program Pageant this coming August. Please vote for me daily at www.bcambassador.com for the peoples choice scholarship of $500! Thank you for the support!
Last but not least, the Chase Pageant! The royalty loved attending the Chase Pageant last year as candidates and we excited for the 2011 Candidates to have the same opportunity. It was very special being able to share the feelings of pageant night with them and realizing it was not going to be long before it was our turn to pass our crowns.
April proved to be a busy month but May has many more events in store!
Lots of Love,
Miss Kamloops Paris Sanesh

March Madness!
The beginning of March has proved to be an exciting time for the Kamloops Royalty. Along with getting acquainted with our 14 beautiful 2011 candidates we are honoured to have our very own Miss Kamloops, Paris Sanesh, running for the position of a British Columbia Ambassador this August! We wish her the best of luck in her endeavors and donations to help her along her exciting journey can be made at any of our upcoming events! We spent a weekend in western spirits at The Kamloops Cowboy Festival hosted at the Kamloops Convention Center (March 11th-13th) where we had the opportunity to listen to and enjoy local western talents and artists. The royalty has also been busy collecting donations for our upcoming fashion show. Again we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our local businesses! We will continue to stay busy with all of our upcoming events! Fashion Show April 9th, Speech April 28th and Entertainment Night May 12th. Hope to see you all there!

An end to February
February wasn't a very busy month but it sure was fantastic! On the third we left for the Queen Silver Star Excellence Program Pageant in the beautiful city of Vernon and had an amazing time! We squeezed in some shopping, and congratulated the new queen silver star, Aksana Skrinnikoff and princess silver star Kaitlyn Chirkoff. We attended a Blazer Game on February 9th and had a wonderful time even though they didn't win! We also helped to decorate the Columbo Hall for a valentines day fund-raiser, on February 11th, making center pieces, spreading confetti and setting tables! It was a fantastic event! And really made me appreciate all the effort that goes in to a successful event! Next on our calendar was attending a 'chocolate social' at Bedford Manor on valentines day, we had a lovely time visiting with all the residents and had some delicious treats. Finally we attended Strykes for Tykes at Falcon Lanes on February 26th with counselor Dennis Walsh. We raised a lot of money, all while having a blast! February was a great month for us, Kamloops Royalty, and the city of Kamloops!

January Joy to February Fun!
The Miss Kamloops Royalty started off mid-January attending Wendy’s Dreamlift Day! We all had many laughs serving drink a mile a minute. It was definitely a time we will all remember. Fortunately, Kamloops was able to raise $109,382.64 for this wonderful cause! Our next event was the Alzheimer's Walk For Memories where we witnessed true Kamloops volunteer work and fundraising ability. The McMaster family raised $19,000 towards research and a cure. Way to go Kamloops! Last but not least, Princess Jenelle and I attended the candidates ballroom dance class where we saw them jive there way to many laughs and smiles. Good luck on the rest of your candidacy ladies and enjoy your journey.
Love Always,
Miss Kamloops, Paris Sanesh

January oh January.
Happy New Year to all! January is proving to be an exciting month for us so far! Our first Candidate call was held on January 2nd and our second on the 5th. We are now proud to say we have 17 lovely young ladies taking part in the program as our candidates. We also attended a Chamber social on the 12th which proved to be an excellent networking opportunity. We met with both TRU's Dean of Students and Dean of Tourism as well as chatted with several council members and the lovely staff from the Chamber!

Reflecting
November and December were quite exciting months, we volunteered at Basic's for Babies and met some hardworking volunteers. We got to partake in the Santa Clause Parade where we drove in Smith Chevrolet Cadillac's 1961 Cadillac Eldorado, the same make that Johnny Cash rode in 1962. We also went to the Chase Parade and got to meet some of the citizens of that great Village. Just as the parade was starting, the Chase Royalty's float left without them! After the parade, we met up with the Chase Royalty and candidates for a warm bowl of chilli and a great game of charades, in which my team won!
Can't wait to see what January has in store!
